AN OLD DAILY BREAD

I love reading the ” Daily Bread “; I like looking back at old printings and to day I want you read this  one with me.
February 27, 1994.
The best correspondents for Life magazine were sent all over the world to ask the question, “What is the meaning of life?” They talked to philosophers and children, taxi drivers and Nile River boatmen. More than 100 premier photographers provided images.
One dramatic photograph of a lighthouse off the Brittany Coast caught my eye. A huge Atlantic storm had sent gigantic waves around the mammoth brick structure, nearly swallowing it up. But on the sheltered side, literally surrounded by frothing, boiling waves, stood the lighthouse keeper. He was looking casually toward shore, his hands stuck nonchalantly in his pockets, as enormous waves crashed around him.
This powerful illustration reminded me of the many fierce storms of trial we face in life. And I was grateful for the promise that in God we are as safe as that lighthouse keeper. The words of Isaiah 25:4 are true for every believer: God is our refuge during the storms of physical affliction, emotional turmoil, and spiritual attack. With His protection we can endure any trial with the calm assurance that He who shields us cannot be moved. And that gives us peace no matter how turbulent our circumstances.

I trust in God, I know He cares for me
On mountain bleak or on the stormy sea;
Though billows roll, He keeps my soul;
My heavenly Father watches over me. —Martin

The Lord may calm the storm around you, but more often He’ll calm the storm within you.

THE FENCE

I SEE A SQUIRREL,

RUNNING DOWN A FENCE,

TO AND FRO,

THAT POOR SQUIRREL,

WAS TRYING TO DECIDE,

WHAT TO DO,

AND WHERE TO GO.

THIS IS MUCH LIKE,

SOME PEOPLE YOU AND I KNOW,

THEY ARE ON A FENCE,

NOT KNOWING,

WHICH WAY THEY SHOULD GO.

THEY LOVE THE WORLD ,

AND SEEM TO LOVE SIN,

WHILE THEIR SOUL IS PERISHING,

THEY SEE THE LIGHT,

BUT WILL NOT INVITE HIM IN.

JESUS IS HIS NAME,

I PRAY THEY ASK HIS FORGIVENESS,

AND HIS GIFT OF SALVATION CLAIM.

THREE TREES

THREE TREES
One morning,
The air was crisp and still,
I saw on the horizon,
Three trees standing on a hill.
The two trees on the sides,
Shorter than the center one;
How they stood out,
In the rising sun.
A refuge for the birds,
In the time of storms,
A nesting place,
So peaceful and warm.
Seeing these trees,
So majestic standing in a row,
Took my mind back,
Two thousand years or so,
To a place called Calvary,
Where three wooden crosses,
Stood out plainly in a row.
On the outside crosses,
Hung two guilty thieves,
On the center cross,
Hung the only Son of God;
He was dying for you and me.
Jesus, was bearing our sins,
So we could be set free.

LIFE ASSURANCE

Good day my friends! It is a great privilege to share these few words of Scripture with you and today finishes our brief look at Assurance for the Soul. I hope you enjoyed it and was blessed!
2 Co.5:17; 1Jn.3:14-22– Assurance of a changed life!
Romans 15:12-13; Phil.4:7.

Romans 15:12-13

King James Version (KJV)
 12And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.
13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. We have assurance of joy and inner peace! Another step in the ladder of assurance is the step of victorious living. 1 John 5:4-5–
4For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
5Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? We have the Holy Spirits testimony for assurance. [ Romans 8:15-16 ]. When we are with Christ we have absolute assurance of eternal life! [ Romans 8:33-39; 2 Timothy 1:12 ]. Romans 8:38-39–
38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
