I love reading quotes and some of my favorites are from the pen of C. S.Lewis, from which I am going to share with you.
" The task of the modern educator is not to cut down jungles, but to irrigate deserts."

" What draws people to be friends is that they see the same truths. They share it."

" There are far, far better days a head than any we leave behind."

" Love is not affectionate feeling, but a steady wish for the loved person's ultimate good as far as it can be obtained."

" Pain insists upon being attended to. God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our consciences, but shouts in our pain. It is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world."

I trust you will receive a blessing by reading other folks writing my friends!

Browsing

Hi my friends, I love browsing through books of inspiration, such as the Bible and old hymn books. Today I am browsing through this hymn book and I will share these written words that were inspired for this author to record.
These words are taken from the hymn " Deck Thyself, My Soul, With Gladness.
Jesus, Bread of life, I pray thee,
let me gladly here obey thee;
never to my hurt invited,
be thy love with love requited;
from this banquet let me measure,
Lord, how vast and deep its treasure;
through the gifts thou here dost give me,
as thy quest in heaven receive me.

I trust you are blessed by this and will do some browsing to my friends!

Hello world! « Wint68's Blog

Hello world! « Wint68's Blog: "SPIRITUAL POWERS

There are two spiritual powers,

one evil and one good.

Satan, the deceiver is evil,

God, the creator is good,

Satan, the accuser of all men,

God, the source of wisdom,

for men to live as they should.

Satan, the father of lies,

causing great sorrow and cries;

God, the father of truth,

gives love, grace and words,

on which you can rely.

Satan, the destroyer,

desires to destroy your soul,

God, our redeemer,

desires to make us whole.

Dear soul, which power,

controls your life?

Satan, who by sin,

causes you strife?

Or God, through the blood,

of Jesus, His only son,

gives you eternal life,

a victory already won."

Favorite Quotes

Here are some friendship quotes I will share with you, hope you will like them also!
In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out.  It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being.  We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.  ~Albert Schweitzer

A loyal friend laughs at your jokes when they're not so good, and sympathizes with your problems when they're not so bad.  ~Arnold H. Glasgow

The friend is the man who knows all about you, and still likes you.  ~Elbert Hubbard, The Notebook, 1927

A good friend is cheaper than therapy.  ~Author Unknown

If a friend is in trouble, don't annoy him by asking if there is anything you can do.  Think up something appropriate and do it.  ~Edgar Watson Howe

The most I can do for my friend is simply be his friend.  ~Henry David Thoreau

Great Hymns of the Past

This is a hymn written by Charles Wesley in 1740.
Christ Whose Glory Fill the Skies:

1.
Christ, whose glory fills the skies,
Christ, the true, the only light,
Sun of Righteousness, arise,
triumph o'er the shades of night;
Dayspring from on high, be near;
Daystar, in my heart appear.

2.
Dark and cheerless is the morn
unaccompanied by thee;
joyless is the day's return,
till thy mercy's beams I see;
till thy inward light impart,
cheer my eyes and warm my heart.

3.
Visit then this soul of mine;
pierce the gloom of sin and grief;
fill me, Radiancy divine,
scatter all my unbelief;
more and more thyself display,
shining to the perfect day.

Last evening th… « Wint68's Blog

Last evening the sun had just gone down over the western horizon and the big round moon was just peaking it face through the scattered clouds in the eastern skies, The color of the rising moon was orange as it’s true light was shadowed by the clouds. About twenty minutes latter the beautiful moon was shining so bright on the fresh white snow, creating a picture of beauty on the landscape below. I thought this is a picture of our lives, as some days our light gets dimmed by the cloudy world about us and as we get back into the word of God it charges our spiritual battery so our little lights can shine bright again."

Sounds [ written by Winston Staples ]

 SOUNDS
I love the sound, of the morning dove,
when he calls his mate in love;
I love the sound, of the distant loon,
as he sings his mournful tune;
I love the sound, of the gentle breeze,
as it moves and rustles the leaves;
I love the sound, of the falling rain,
as it strikes against the window pane;
I love the sound, of the babbling brook’
as I sit and dangle my kook;
I love the sound, of the lullaby,
as the mother soothes her child’s cry.
I love the sound, all creation gives,
and shouts the news, our creator lives;
I love the sound, of God’s Holy word,
and the great message it gives to be heard,
salvation and great hope for the lost,
comes from God at great cost.
If this great truth they believe,
eternal life they shall receive.
There is a sound, I am waiting for,
the sound of a great shout,
and a trumpets blare,
when the Saints will meet,
Christ in the air;
We will be ushered to Heaven above,
because of His amazind grace and eternal love.

poem « Wint68's Blog: "poem
BY WINT68 ON NOVEMBER 14, 2010
My Creator: Looking out my window, what wonders I see, Chickadees and Blue jays at my feeder, Woodpeckers and Nuthatches in my tree. I see the hills of beauty, evergreens covered in snow, and I think about the riches, God, our creator bestows. He sent His Son, Jesus, born in a stable, a King in a manger, the wise men came to see; He came to earth as a baby, because He loves you and me. He lived many years as a carpenter, repairing broken things, and at the age of thirty, He taught the good news, that only God’s word can bring. He healed the blind, the deaf, and the lame, and those the devil possessed, at the tomb of Lazaras He wept, He brought the dead to life, because to Him they only slept. Ater His ministry was complete, He was betrayed by Judas, and to Roman soldiers given, He died for our sins, so those who believe, will go to Heaven."

Longings: Dear soul, do you long for a place of perfect rest? Do you long for a place where the sun never sets? Do you long to be free from toil and stress? Do you long for a place with cloudless skies, no sorrow and no goodbyes? Dear soul, do you long for painless days, and where the roses bloom forever? Do you long for a place with eternal gladness and to give eternal praise? Dear soul, that place is Heaven, with Christ to remain. Dear soul, you need no money or fame, come to Jesus, He will put you on the train! Winston Staples"

Gerald Staples: "“And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” 1 John 5:14-15 KJV"

The Proper Way

The proper way for a man to pray,
Said deacon Lemuel Keys,
The only proper attitude
Is down upon his knees.

No, I should  say, the way to pray,
Said Reverend Doctor Wise,
Is standing with outstretched arms
And rapturous upturned eyes.

It seems to me his hands should be
Devoutly clasped in front,
With both thumbs pointing t'ward the ground
Said Reverend Doctor Blunt.

Last year I fell in Hodkins' well
Head first said Cyrus Brown,
With both my heels sticking up,
My head a pointing down.

And I made prayer right then and there,
Best prayer I ever said.
The prayerest prayer I ever prayed
Was standing on my head.

Today I jumped on my old Atv.,
to go out that old woods road'
to see what I could see.
I saw three grey squirrels,
chasing one another,
up an old pine tree.
I drove very slow,
not to scare white tailed deer,
and the ruffed grouse,
you know.
I wanted to visit,
my favorite place,
the place where,
where the red pine trees grow.
The place beside,
that old beaver dam,
where the soft breezes blow,
and off in the distance,
you hear,
the cawing of the crow.
Oh, how I love this place,
the place where the red pine trees grow.
